GENERAL X-RAY INFORMATION
General Radiography, commonly referred to as X-rays, is an important medical diagnostic tool and the most common form of medical imaging. X-rays use radiation to create 2D black and white images of the internal structures of the body. X-rays are used in the diagnosis of conditions of the bones, organs and soft tissues.
Independent X-Ray & Ultrasound offers all standard general
X-Ray services including panoramic dental imaging (OPG).
ALL GENERAL AND DENTAL X-RAYS ARE PERFORMED ON A WALK-IN OR APPOINTMENT BASIS.
ALL OUR SERVICES ARE BULK BILLED FOR ALL MEDICARE CARD HOLDERS
PATIENT PREPARATION
General and Dental X-rays require no preparation prior to the procedure.
After the X-ray you will be able to resume your normal activites.
ON THE DAY OF YOUR GENERAL X-RAY
You should wear comfortable clothing and remove all jewellery prior to arriving at IXU. When you arrive on the day of the X-ray our staff may ask you to change into a gown depending on the area being imaged.
At your appointment a Radiographer will escort you into the X-ray room. At this time he/she will take the time to explain the procedure you are undergoing today and may go over your medical history. This is a good time to ask any questions you may have regarding the procedure.
Depending on the area of your body being imaged, the Radiographer may require you to lie down, sit or stand for the procedure.
The procedure itself is generally easy, fast and painless. The Radiographer may need to manipulate the area of your body being imaged in order to view it from multiple angles. The Radiographer may also require you to follow some simple instructions such as holding your breath during the X-ray. The number of X-rays required will depend on the procedure being performed.
During the procedure the Radiographer will remain in the room with you, occasionally moving behind a lead screen when each X-ray is taken.
After the X-ray you will be able to resume your normal activities.
